In 1953, a Corning Glass executive illustrates "studs" protruding from the newly developed glass funnel, or bulb, for a 15GP22 tricolor CRT.

A second exec holds the faceplate with its phosphor-dot plate/shadow mask assembly. The studs align the faceplate assembly and the funnel before they are bonded together.
