Uniray (Advanced
Apple) CRT This is from Maury Markowitz:
Your page on the Apple tube notes that development
was later picked up by an ex-Philco employee as the Uniray. The key
improvement was the introduction of low-cost photodiodes that replaced
the PMT and thereby dramatically lowered price. Additionally, the much
faster response times of transistorized electronics allowed the indexing
adjustments to be made in real time, so there was no need for the second
index beam.
