Postwar Television RCA 630-TS Prototype
Mel Sprinkle was an engineer working for RA in 1945-46. He was provided with a prototype of the RCA 630-TS for field testing prior to the release of the 630-TS for sale to the public. At the completion of the field tests, Mr. Sprinkle was offered one of the sets for a price of $50. 50 sets were made. The chassis appears to be identical to a production 630-TS, but has no marking on it. The cabinet differs from the production set, as you can see in these photos. This set was donated to the museum by Ken Sprinkle, Mel's son.
