RCA TK-20 Iconoscope Film Chain Camera

Early Television

(click on picture for high resolution image)

After World War Two, RCA introduced image orthicon cameras for studio and remote pickup use. However, the early electronic 1850 iconoscope was used in their film chain camera. The iconoscope was capable of producing a better picture if it had a large amount of light, which was possible in a film chain. The above camera and stand were donated by the Ohio Historical Society.
