Regal 10 Inch - 1949

This set was donated to the museum by Ken Sprinkle. Ken's father was an engineer working for RCA in the late 40s. Ken said this about this set:

In 1945-46 he was provided with a prototype of the RCA 630-TS for field testing prior to the release of the 630-TS for sale to the public. At the completion of the field tests, Mr. Sprinkle was offered one of the sets for a price of $50. 50 sets were made. The chassis appears to be identical to a production 630-TS, but has no marking on it. The cabinet differs from the production set, as you can see in these photos. This placque was attached to the rear of the set.

Don Sellers, of Seminole, Florida, pointed out that the "double D" mask, which this set has, wasn't introduced until late 1949. He also identified the set as being a 1949 Regal model. So this set couldn't have been used in 1945-46 for field testing of the RCA 630-TS.
