John Staples' Iconoscope Camera

From John Staples, W6BM, Berkely, California:

I thought I'd let you know that I have put together a nice iconoscope camera using an RCA 1850A tube given to me by Al Jones, founder of the Tube Collectors Association, some 20 years ago.

I've been building it for the past couple of months, doing all the cabinetry and circuit design myself. The camera is a work in progress and will continue to be improved.

Here is a shot of the monitor while the camera is viewing an Indian Head pattern, as well as an overview of the camera, the HV divider, the CCU and the monitor, while the camera views the test pattern just off to the right.  LV and HV power supplies are below the desk. Outdoor shots look very good.
