This set was purchased from a dealer in New York, and may be a prewar,
or possibly an immediate postwar, prototype. Other collectors have
suggested that the tube lineup looks prewar, as do most of the
components. However, the twinlead from the terminal strip to the tuner
is definitely postwar. If it is original, the set was probably made
around 1945-46. The CRT is a 5BP4, and the tube sockets are riveted in,
suggesting factory assembly. The tuner appears to be prewar, from GE,
but mounted upside down so that the on/off switch is on the right rather
than the left as on the GE sets.
